Day 6 (Friday 19th December 2014)

So I woke up at around 8am this morning. Early, I know, but to be honest I didn't really get much sleep last night. I'm one of those people who gets nervous about things and can find it hard to sleep the night before momentous occasions. I was always the child who couldn't sleep on Christmas Eve or on the night before my birthday. Sometimes I even found it hard to sleep the night before my brothers' birthdays. But you get the idea. Today was a big deal. My big date with Alex. I was probably blowing this way out of proportion but to me it was huge.

To calm my nerves I took a long shower and took my time with breakfast. Before long it was already 11am and I had to get changed into something reasonable. Nothing I tried on looked good enough though. I'm not much of a fashion person in that I always just wore the first thing I found but even after finding a heap of new clothes in the stores around the city I couldn't find anything right. In the end I picked one that I was the happiest with (though still not fully content with) and waited beside the door. It was 11:40 and I was already ready to go. I decided I needed some fresh air though so I headed out the door to go upstairs to the roof of the apartment complex. I hadn't been up there yet but I needed fresh air.

I hadn't gotten far out of the door when I was confronted with Alex looking very smart in a freshly pressed button-up and jeans. He was leaning against the banister of the stairs apparently waiting for 12pm. We both laughed off our eagerness and he told me to close my eyes, take his hand and follow him. I was surprised when he led me up instead of down towards the city which I thought was our destination. I could tell we had reached the landing at the top of the stairs in front of the door that led outside as Alex had paused. I heard the door open and we stepped through.

"Open your eyes." What I saw amazed me. I never thought the roof of a building would be so beautiful. It was a rooftop garden complete with trees, bushes, rose beds and even a river that wound its way lazily around the roof (well, would have if time hadn't stopped. Now it lay frozen in place). In the centre of the roof was a section hidden by tall hedges which created a sort of wall. I suppose it must have been windy up here so they probably needed a place to shelter from it.

Alex lead me towards it, still holding my hand tightly, and through a hole in the hedges. Inside was a small room made of glass but it was what was inside this room that surprised me even more. Alex had obviously spent a lot of time the night before preparing everything. To one side was a table covered in a white table cloth with two chairs. On the table was a rose in a glass vase (cliched but it meant a lot to me), some cutlery and glasses. In the opposite corner of the room there was a television set up with a couch facing it and the other corner held a fridge and oven. It was all so very romantic. I normally wasn't much for romance but I could see what all the fuss was about (again with the teen romantic, I need to get some control over myself).

Alex led me to my seat and I sat down while he went to the oven and pulled out two warm plates of spaghetti which he followed up with garlic bread and some wine from the fridge. It was all so delicious that once we started eating we didn't start talking until we had finished. We talked for hours about all sorts of things like television shows, our families, our schools, our friends. We talked about almost everything and before long we knew practically everything about each other.

It was 4pm before Alex finally stood up from the table, took my hand and lead me to the couch. When we sat down on the couch Alex pulled me close to him so that his arm was around my waist as my head rested on his shoulder. We sat like this as we watched episode after episode of all different TV shows from Family Guy to Under the Dome. We had a great time laughing and commenting on the shows.

Around 10pm we decided to call it quits and we headed back down into the belly of the apartment complex. There things became more serious.

"I had a really great time." I told Alex as we stood outside the door to my apartment.

"Me too."

"We should do this again."

"We should." Things were starting to get a little awkward.

"This time though it's my turn. I'm going to take you on an adventure tomorrow. I'll pick you up around 10 from your apartment. The rest is a surprise."

"Oh, okay." Alex seemed a little disappointed.

"What?"

"Nothing. It's just I thought we might spend the night together."

"Not on the first date!" I said, acting scandalised. "I'm not a total slut. We'll save it for another time."

"Okay." He said laughing. He suddenly leaned in unexpectedly for the most passionate kiss I had ever felt. I actually went a little weak in the knees and almost fell before Alex caught me with his arms around my waist. He's mouth never left mine though for another solid twenty seconds. Then we said goodbye and went our separate ways.

I had thought that yesterday was a great day yet today was even better. With Alex around I can only bet that each day will get better. It sure beats being alone, that's for sure. Alex was just so... perfect (well, for me at least). He had everything I looked for in a guy; he was sweet, charming, thoughtful, intelligent, funny and I could hold a conversation with him without feeling awkward. It was kind of amazing actually that I met someone like Alex. Especially considering that he was the only other person I had met not effected by the time stop. It almost seemed too good to be true.

Anyway, I had better stop writing this entry or else I'll run out of time to plan our adventures for tomorrow.

Until next time, this is EF signing out :)
