Day 3 (Tuesday 16th December 2014)

Today was another big day. After the initial wake up and checking of the clock to see if time was still at a stop (which it was) I decided to get myself up and go for an adventure into the city. I knew laying around the house wasn't any fun and there was nothing to do at the local plaza at 6:43 in the morning on a Sunday. Plus, it was my best chance to find someone who was like me. I don't know if I will and my hopes aren't high but there is still a chance, however slim, that there are others out there like me. Call me desperate but I really wanted that to be true. I wasn't very fond of the idea of being alone for a while.

After a quick breakfast I filled my backpack with supplies of water and food. I knew that my chances of not coming back that night were very high so I had to be prepared. I probably could have found food and drink in the city but that didn't really sound right to me. I wasn't very fond of stealing and I didn't have enough cash to keep dropping money in whenever I wanted. If it could be avoided I decided that I would try.

After all this I finally managed to head out by around 10am. I took another car I found near the highway and then drove the thirty minutes into the city. When I reached the city the traffic was too hard to drive around (even at that time on a Sunday morning) so I parked the car and got out. I left the keys in the ignition with the car off though because I wasn't going to use it again.

Walking the city streets alone with no sound other than my shoes on the pavement was very creepy. It reminded me a little of the first episode of the walking dead where the main character walks through the empty city until he finds the zombies. I wasn't expecting any zombies but still. The image freaked me out a little. I didn't know much about the Walking Dead though as I hadn't yet made it past the first episode. Sorry, but it kind of bored me.

Anyway, nothing strange really struck me as I walked through the silent streets. I walked on the sidewalk and either side of the road either had a business, bank or store so there wasn't really much to look at. Still it was fascinating to see all the different things you never really noticed when you are in the general hustle and bustle of a busy city. The best part about it being so early was that there weren't many people walking around yet so I barely had to watch where I was going. It was only around train stations that I had to worry.

I had been walking for a while before I checked the time program I had added to my phone before we left (it was the same one I had on my laptop which was also in my backpack) and was surprised to see that it was already nearly 3pm. It wasn't as if it was going to get dark or anything but I really wanted to maintain a normal sleep pattern because I want to act as normal as possible. As though I could trick myself into thinking everything was normal. Anyway, I had had enough walking and decided I would have some fun tomorrow. For now I would find somewhere nice to sleep.

It had always been a dream of mine to own an apartment on one of the top floors of a tall city building so I headed into the heart of the CBD and went into the nicest looking apartment complex I could see. I then walked to the top floor (it took a little while as it was the 40th floor and I didn't trust the elevator) and picked the lock to what appeared to be the only apartment on that floor. It seemed that I had lucked out as it was a penthouse suite with some pretty amazing views. Even as I am writing this journal entry I am looking out the window at the newly risen sun coming over the horizon. It was a beautiful view and I was sort of glad that the time had stopped when it did.

When I entered the apartment I dropped my backpack and looked around. It was very lavishly decorated and no expense appeared to have been spared. I went down a hall that branched off from the expansive living area and found several doors to what appeared to be bedrooms. All of them were unoccupied except for one. This one contained a rather handsome young man who could have only been in his early twenties. This was completely at odds with the expensive and lavish penthouse apartment but who was I to complain?

I decided that this was as good a place as any to set up 'base' where I would stay while in the city. I think it might be a while before I return home again. This place is freaking awesome! By the time I had settled in and changed into the old clothes I had brought to sleep in it was already 7pm (how time flew when it had stopped for everyone else) so I ate some of the food I brought and made the mental decision to go clothes shopping the next day. I hated it but at least with myself I could get what I want and get out of there quickly without having to follow my Mum around as she found the "perfect" outfit for me when all I really wanted was a pair of shorts (sorry, I hate pants).

Today had been a pretty cool day actually. I had found a new place to sleep and had even got to learn more about my own city. It sounded corny but maybe being alone wouldn't be so bad after all. Anyway, there was always tomorrow when I might find someone else like me. With these thoughts I must leave you.

Until next time, this is EF signing out :)
